I recently started using Medroxyprogesterone 150mg/ml Vial for birth control. It's given every 3 months and works by preventing ovulation, thickening cervical mucus, and thinning the uterine lining. However, I've been reading about some serious side effects that can occur. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? What have your experiences been like? I'm particularly interested in hearing about any long-term effects or lesser-known side effects that might not be widely discussed. Additionally, how does this injection compare to other long-acting birth control methods like IUDs? I'm curious to know if anyone has switched from other methods and why.

I had some really bad headaches and nausea with this one. My doctor switched me to an IUD and I've been much happier with that.

I had a friend who had a blood clot with this. She had to stop using it immediately and switch to a different method. It was scary, but she's okay now.

Has anyone dealt with the fluid retention issue? I gained like 10 lbs in the first month. I was so bloated I looked like I was pregnant. it was super frustrating, but my doctor assured me it should stabilize eventually so I'm hanging in there. I'll update if things improve.

I personally found the injection site irritation pretty annoying. It would get red and swollen for a few days after each shot. But, overall, it's been effective for me.

I switched to this from the pill because it was more convenient for me. I've had no major issues, but I did have a bit of spotting between periods for the first few months.

Uhh, does anyone else feel like a zombie after the injection? I'm so tired and just want to sleep all the time. This is a bummer compared to my old birth control pill

Hey, just a heads up, but this method can cause some pretty severe mood swings. I had some issues with depression and irritability, so be prepared for that. Also, it can cause some really weird changes to your menstrual cycle, like spotting or even missing periods.

I've had it for 2 years now. I had some initial weight gain, but that leveled out after the first 6 months. No major side effects, but I do feel more fatigue and mood swings at the injection times. They say it's not a real bad birth control method but it's not foolproof but its a good bet. I'd recommend talking to your doctor about the pros and cons of switching if you're considering it.
