Mesna 100mg/mL Inj, 10ml: Your Experiences and Questions
Hello everyone, I'm new to this medication and have just started taking Mesna 100mg/mL injections during my chemotherapy. It's supposed to protect my bladder, but I'm a bit worried about the side effects, especially the rare but serious ones. Has anyone else had experience with this? Any tips or advice?
I've read that it can cause some urinary issues and even severe skin reactions. I'm not sure what to expect, and I'd love to hear from anyone who has been through this.
Also, how do you manage the injection process? Any insights into making it less stressful would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any advice or shared experiences!

I work in oncology, and I've seen a lot of patients on Mesna. The key is communication with your healthcare team. Don't hesitate to call if something doesn't feel right.
Ugh, the injection site irritation is no joke. Ice packs helped a lot for me. And if you can, try to elevate your feet during the injection to help with any discomfort.
I had some pretty bad reactions at first, mostly just the flushing and dizziness, but my doctor adjusted the dosage and it's been much better since. Hang in there!
I've had to deal with a lot of the minor side effects, like diarrhea and nose or throat irritation. Make sure you have plenty of fluids and get some rest. You'll be fine.
