I've been prescribed Metformin ER 1000mg Osmotic Tabs to manage my type 2 diabetes, and I'm curious to hear from others who have experience with this medication. How has it been working for you? Have you noticed significant improvements in your blood sugar levels? I've read about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones, and I'm a bit anxious about lactic acidosis. Is this a common issue, or is it more rare? Also, I'm curious about the best time to take this medication—is it really better to take it with the evening meal, or does it depend on individual schedules? Lastly, has anyone here switched from immediate-release metformin to the extended-release version? How was the transition, and did you notice any differences in side effects or effectiveness? I'd love to hear all about your experiences!

Extended-release metformin can be a lifesaver for some people with type 2 diabetes, but it's not without its risks. Make sure to follow your doctor's instructions and report any unusual symptoms right away. Better safe than sorry!

Make sure to stay hydrated while on this medication. It can help reduce the risk of lactic acidosis and other side effects.

Switching from immediate-release to extended-release metformin was a game-changer for me. I used to have to take it twice a day, which was a hassle. Now, once a day with dinner, and my blood sugar levels have been much more stable.

Has anyone else experienced headaches with this medication? My doctor said it could be a side effect, but I'm not sure if I should just tough it out or try something else.

I wish I could say I've had a great experience... but the side effects have been tough. I get really bad gas and diarrhea sometimes. It's a struggle but it helps with my blood sugar.

I take it with my evening meal and so far no issues. Blood sugar levels are under control and I only occasionally feel a bit tired.

I read somewhere that taking it with a high-fiber meal can help reduce some of the gastrointestinal side effects. Anyone tried that?

Lactic acidosis is rare, but it's important to be aware of the symptoms. If you ever experience severe stomach pain, muscle pain, or feel very weak or dizzy, seek medical attention immediately. It's better to be safe!
