I've been prescribed Metformin ER 500mg Modified Tabs for my type 2 diabetes. It's been a few weeks, and I'm curious about how well it's working for others. I've noticed some stomach discomfort, but I'm not sure if that's normal. Does anyone have tips for managing side effects or experience to share about how the ER version differs from regular Metformin? Also, what are your strategies to ensure you take it regularly and effectively?

I started having issues with lactic acidosis after switching to a higher dose. I had to stop completely. Started SGLT2 Inhibitors. It was a massive headache. I want to hear your experiences.

I've been on Metformin ER for a few months and I've had some stomach issues too. I've found that taking it with a meal helps a lot. Also, make sure you stay hydrated.

I always thought the extended-release was a marketing gimmick for a larger pill but I see there is a difference! I'm glad someone is posting about this.

I've had some luck with Probiotics to help with the GI issues. It won't completely eliminate them, but it helps! I take my extended release and my probiotics together and try to get them both down with some food.

I tried Metformin ER and it did not work for me. I got put on Victoza and it works better and I don't have the horrible GI side effects.

I switched from regular Metformin to the ER version and the difference was night and day. I had terrible stomach issues with the regular one, but the ER version has been much better. I just make sure to take it with food.

My doctor suggested taking it at night because that's when your body produces the least amount of glucose. I never thought about it before but it makes sense. Side effects have been minimal.

I take Metformin ER 500mg with a small, high-protein snack (like some cottage cheese), and a tums before bed. It makes it much easier to swallow, and I wake up feeling a bit better the next day.
