I've been prescribed Methotrexate 2.5mg tablets (yellow) for severe rheumatoid arthritis. I'm curious about the side effects, especially the serious ones. The list is quite long, and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced any of these side effects? Do the non-serious ones like hair loss go away over time? I'm also not sure about the serious side effects like infections or liver problems, are these common in the first month of use, or is it too early after the first dosage? I've seen some other medications that have been fine one day, and then the effects become worse over time. Do any of you have any experience with those?

Don't freak yourself out. My dermatologist told me that if I did experience any infections my body is usually able to fight off the infection but I should still call my doctor.

I've been on Methotrexate for a few months now, and I've had some stomach pain and fatigue, but nothing too bad. I would suggest taking it on an empty stomach and staying hydrated. It helps me a lot.

I had to stop taking Methotrexate because of severe dizziness. It was terrifying. Make sure you talk to your doctor about any side effects, no matter how small they seem.

I had some really bad mouth sores when I first started taking Methotrexate. My doctor prescribed a special mouthwash that helped a lot.

Serious side effects are rare, but you should definitely be aware of them. I had a friend who ended up in the hospital with severe stomach pain and back pain, they panicked they were having a heart attack, turns out it was severe side effects from methotrexate.
