I was recently prescribed Metoprolol ER Succinate 100mg Tabs for my heart failure and angina. The ER part means it's extended-release, and it's supposed to work over 24 hours, so I only need to take it once a day. I've been on it for a few months now, and I've got some thoughts and questions. First, the medication has definitely helped with my chest pain, but I've also had some side effects like dizziness and fatigue. Are these normal? Also, I've been dealing with depression lately and I'm wondering if it's related to the medication. Anyone else experiencing this? I've also been worried about the severe side effects listed in the leaflet. Has anyone else had any of those? Finally, what's the best way to report side effects to the FDA? I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

I've been on Metoprolol ER for a while now, and I can definitely say it's helped with my blood pressure. As for side effects, I've had some dizziness, but nothing too bad. Just make sure to take it at the same time every day and you should be fine. Also, depression is a known side effect, so it might be worth talking to your doctor about it.

I’m confused. Have you guys experienced the same symptoms? I didn’t know that I was having heart failure, I thought it was just some chest pain. Thanks for the help!

I’ve been on this for a while and had a few unpleasant side effects, but it does help with angina. I just wish the side effects weren’t so bad. Anyone know if there’s a way to mitigate them?

I had some weird symptoms and I’m pretty sure it was because of my medication. I called the FDA and they were really helpful. You can report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-332-1088 or online at https://www.fda.gov/medwatch. They'll help you out.

I've been on this for a year now. The extended-release formulation is a game-changer. No more multiple doses throughout the day. Be aware of the side effects and talk to your doctor, and you should be fine. Also, track your blood pressure regularly.

I didn't know that the 'ER' stands for extended-release. I thought it was some kind of new formula. Good to know!
