I've been using Metronidazole 1% Topical Gel Tube for my rosacea for about a month now, and I'm starting to think it might not be the right treatment for me. The burning and stinging sensations are just too much to bear. I've also noticed some slight irritation at the application site. I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar issues or if there are any tips to mitigate these side effects. I'm hesitant to stop using it because it seems to be helping with the redness and bumps, but the discomfort is becoming unbearable. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did you manage it? Or should I consider switching to a different treatment altogether?

Did you try using a different moisturizer? Sometimes the combination of products can cause extra irritation.

I had terrible side effects like dizziness and headaches my doctor told me to break up my doses instead of applying all at once, I ended up being fine

I think it depends on the severity of your rosacea. If it's mild, you might want to consider other treatments. But if it's more severe, it might be worth pushing through the side effects.

I have no side effects at all! Also, if you can’t handle topicals, there are other options like oral antibiotics. Just make sure to talk to your doctor.

I used metro gel for a year and never had any side effects. It really helped clear my skin.

Have you talked to your dermatologist about this? They might be able to suggest ways to manage the side effects or switch you to a different treatment if needed. Most dermatologists are pretty understanding.

I’d recommend giving it a bit more time. For me, the initial irritation was tough, but it ultimately helped clear up my rosacea. It's worth it in the long run

It can be tough it helps. I was pretty miserable for the first week, but it got better. Stick with it, the side effects should lessen. If it still too much, talk to your doctor about alternatives.

I felt the same way when I first started using it. The burning sensation was intense, but it got better after a couple of weeks. Make sure you're not overapplying it and give your skin some time to adjust. Also, applying a thin layer of moisturizer afterwards helped me a lot.
