Hey everyone, I've just started treatment with Mitomycin 40mg Inj for bladder cancer and I have some questions for those who are experienced with this. I've been getting it through IV infusion and have noticed some redness and a bit of pain at the infusion site. Is this normal? I've also been feeling quite tired. Should I be worried? Also, I'm curious about how regular this is in your community. Does anyone have tips for managing the side effects?

I had a bad reaction to Mitomycin. A month and a half after my last treatment, and I now have a chronic cough.

Has anyone else had trouble with kidney problems? I haven't had any yet, but I know it can be a side effect.

I've had Mitomycin for stage 2 bladder cancer. The fatigue was worst for the first week or so after each treatment. This also sounds like a lot of the same symptoms my mom had. I wouldn't worry too much, as long as you're communicating with your doctor. It's important to track all of this with your healthcare team every step of the way.

I'm really sorry you're going through this, but I hope you find some relief soon. You can do this!

Not sure if this will help, but my dad had Mitomycin and he found that staying hydrated helped a lot with the fatigue. He also drank ginger tea, which helped with the nausea.

That's true. I'd add that with more severe side effects you can always ask your doctor for a lower dose. Cancer treatments are very dosable. And you don't want to be too sick to fight it!

Everyone is different, but for me, the common side effects like fatigue and nausea were pretty manageable. I found that eating small, bland meals helped with the nausea. My doctor also prescribed something to help with the fatigue.

I'm on my third round of Mitomycin and have experienced similar issues. The redness and pain at the infusion site usually went away after a few days, but I made sure to tell my nurse about it. As for the fatigue, it's common. Try to rest as much as you can and listen to your body.
