Mupirocin 2% Ointment: My experience and concerns about side effects
I was prescribed Mupirocin 2% Ointment for impetigo, and while it seems to be working, I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects. Has anyone else used this and experienced any of the more serious side effects like severe irritation, dizziness, or even C. diff-associated diarrhea? I've been applying it as directed, but I'm just a bit anxious. Also, has anyone found any good tips for managing the burning or stinging that can come with it? Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I had a severe allergic reaction to Mupirocin. I got hives and my throat felt really tight. I had to go to the ER. If anything like that happens, go to the hospital immediately.
I used Mupirocin for a similar issue and didn't experience any major side effects. Just a bit of stinging at first, but it went away quickly. Hang in there; it should clear up soon!
I think the burning is normal, but if it gets really bad, you should call your doctor. I used to be a nurse, and I think it's best to check with a healthcare professional if you're worried! It's always better to be safe.
Seriously, if you get diarrhea, do not ignore it. That's a huge red flag. Go to the doctor right away. Better safe than sorry!
I always make sure to apply it after a shower, when my skin is clean and dry. Makes a big difference in how well it works.
I've used Mupirocin a few times and never had any issues. Just make sure to wash your hands before and after applying it. I always kept an eye out for any signs of C. diff, but thankfully, I never had any problems.
Be careful! I had a friend who got a really bad reaction to this stuff. She ended up with a rash all over her body. Definitely keep an eye out for any weird symptoms.
I just used a tiny bit of it the first time and waited a bit to see if I had any reactions. It helped to check for allergic reactions that way.
I've used this a few times and the pain and stinging faded after a couple of days. Just keep using it as prescribed. It should clear up soon.
