My pediatrician prescribed Singulair (Montelukast) 4mg Oral Granules for my 5-year-old to help manage his asthma and allergies. The doctor mentioned it would help prevent asthma attacks and control allergy symptoms. I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the rare but severe ones. Has anyone else given this to their young child? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both positive and negative. Also, what do we do if we notice any of the urgent side effects mentioned? I want to be prepared but also not too worried. Any tips or advice would be super helpful!

Interesting. I've heard that Singulair can cause sleep disturbances. My son had no issues with that, but he did get a cough that lasted for a few days. It was pretty annoying, but the doctor said it was just a side effect and to keep monitoring him. Good luck with the prescription.

This medicine isn't something to take lightly. My child's pediatrician said if you notice any signs of an allergic reaction, like hives or trouble breathing, you should go to the ER right away. It's scary, but better to be safe. The good news is that most kids handle it well and get real relief from their asthma.

We started our daughter on Singulair a few months ago. It's been a game-changer for her allergies, she hasn't sneezed once since we began! We did have some initial stomach pain, but her doctor assured us it was normal and it went away after a week. Just make sure you keep an eye on any skin reactions or breathing issues.

I had to stop giving my daughter Singulair because it gave her really bad dreams. It was terrifying for both of us. Have you talked to your doctor about any alternative medications? Always best to have a backup plan.

I just started looking into this for my son. It's definitely a relief that there are others out there who have had good experiences with Singulair. I'll keep an eye out for any unusual side effects and will report them to my doctor.
