I decided to start taking Accutane 40mg Capsules about six months ago after struggling with severe acne for years. The strict rules for use, especially the monthly blood tests and pregnancy prevention measures, were daunting, but my dermatologist assured me that the benefits outweighed the risks. My skin is now almost completely clear, and I couldn't be happier. However, the side effects were brutal. I experienced dry skin and eyes so bad that I constantly used moisturizers and eye drops. I also had back pain and joint stiffness, which made my workouts difficult. My doctor assured me that these symptoms are common and should subside after a few months. I'm now on my final month of treatment and hoping the side effects won't linger. I've heard some scary stories about people who experienced more serious side effects, but I'm grateful to not have dealt with anything too severe. Has anyone else had a similar experience with Accutane, and how did you cope with these side effects?

I was terrified of the birth defects thing, but I was on birth control and got tested every month. It was a bit more work but worth it for the end result.

Hearing this made me want to start treatment again. My acne was so severe that even makeup couldn't cover it. Mentally, I felt horrible. Thankfully, I stuck to the end and it was a life-changer.

I was on Accutane for almost a year, and while it worked wonders for my skin, the side effects were no joke. Dryness and joint pain, but also some digestive issues that I never anticipated. You have to be incredibly diligent about checking in with your doctor and monitoring any symptoms.

Couldn't agree more with the mood swings comment. I had them quite severely, and I have never been so affected by season changes. It made the whole process feel even more miserable. But my skin cleared up enough that I could leave the house again, and that was really important to my mental health — I still think the trade-off was worth it.

Accutane saved my life, but it was a rough journey. My advice: drink lots of water and use thick moisturizers. Also, be prepared for some mood swings—it's not just your skin that gets affected. But if you can push through, it's totally worth it.

I think everyone's experience on Accutane is going to vary. I know people who had no side effects at all, and others who found it much harder to deal with. It’s just a waiting game and a lot of self-care. The good news is, it works really well for many people, myself included.

I'm so glad you're seeing results! Have you considered using a humidifier to combat the dry skin? It really helped me when I was on Accutane.

Just started Accutane, and the dryness is already insane. Any tips for my lips? They're so chapped and painful!
