I've been prescribed Erythromycin 200mg/5ml Susp 200ml for a skin infection. I've never taken this particular antibiotic before, so I'm a bit nervous. I know it's important to finish the entire course, but I'm not sure how to handle some of the potential side effects. Has anyone else taken this? Were the side effects manageable? Are there any tips or tricks to make taking this medication easier? I'm also curious about how long it might take to see improvement. I'm determined to stick with the treatment, but I want to be prepared for what's to come. If anyone has advice or wants to share their experience, I'd really appreciate it.

If you're worried about side effects, talk to your doctor about taking probiotics. They can help minimize stomach issues. I've had good luck with them in the past with similar antibiotics.

For my daughter, the doctor actually recommended mixing the suspension with a small bit of juice or applesauce to mask the taste. It worked pretty well, and she didn't have any major issues with side effects. I think it's important to check your doctor but also instruct him/her about its taste and the child’s difficulty in taking it.

I don't know about the suspension, but the pills had a hard time staying down. Is there a way to take this med without feeling sick?

I don't remember experiencing any major side effects with Erythromycin, but I do remember having some strange dreams...

The taste isn't so bad for me. I find that the new suspension gets better if you shake it up before each dose. Also, try to take it around the same time every day to build a routine.

Stay hydrated. By far the most common side effect of antibiotics is diarrhea, so make sure you're drinking enough water. This is what helped me most – otherwise, it got pretty rough.

I took Erythromycin for strep throat a few years ago. It was a bit rough on my stomach, but manageable. I’d recommend taking it with food to ease any stomach upset.

I took Erythromycin for a chlamydia infection and it was... interesting. I experienced some dizziness and fatigue, but nothing that made me stop taking it. It was good to have a support system to help with the adverse side effects.
