I've been prescribed Opium 10mg/ml (1%) Tincture to treat severe diarrhea that hasn't responded to other treatments. I know it's a strong opioid, but I'm not sure what to expect. I had to take this for a while due to severe diarrhea. I can't stress the importance of talking to your doctor about any side effects. I had some itching and nausea, but it was manageable. Now, I'm fine, just had to stay in touch with my doctor.
I hope your doctor has a plan for monitoring your use of this. Opioids are serious business, and you should know the risks. Do they have weaning you off to prevent addiction?
I’ve used it and it was a lifesaver. I don't have any stories to share now, though. Side effects were bad but temporary. Dizziness was the worst part. Just take it easy if you feel weird.
I don't think the side effects are as bad as they sound. Everyone is different, but I had a friend who used it and was fine. Just follow the doctor's instructions and stay in touch.
My grandma used to have this in her medicine cabinet. She never used it, she said it was too strong. I don't remember the details, but just be safe and use it sparingly.

I used this for pain management once, and it knocked me out. Be prepared for some serious drowsiness. It was worth it for me to get the pain relief, but something milder is probably better for diarrhea.
Stay away from alcohol and other depressants while on this. It can be dangerous. I've seen a friend who had problems getting off of it. You should really try to avoid it for that reason.
