My experience being put on 50mg Quetiapine for bipolar disorder. My psychiatrist recently started me on 50 mg Quetiapine at bedtime. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a few years ago, and I'm hoping this will help manage my manic episodes more effectively. My question is to anyone else who has been on this before, what should I expect? I've heard it can make you really sleepy. How long does that last? Anyone else notice any other side effects that aren't listed on the prescription info? Thanks!
I started 50mg quetiapine at bedtime as an add-on treatment for my depression and, knock on wood, I've been doing well with it so far. My doctor warned me that it might make me sleepy, and she was right! The first couple of weeks were rough, but I'm getting used to it now. I actually find it helpful for getting a full night's sleep. I did have some dizziness and dry mouth but it's not bad, nothing serious. I'm just hoping it keeps working as well as it has been! I've read that some people gain weight on this medication, so I'm trying to stay active and eat well to keep that from happening. In my experience, it's always important to keep in open dialogue with your mental-health professional.

Night sweats, anyone? This stuff has been a lifesaver for my bipolar disorder, but the night sweats are no joke. I wake up soaked every morning. Maybe it's just me, but if anyone has tips to deal with this, let me know.
Quetiapine for the win! I've been on it for a while, and it's helped keep my bipolar disorder in check. The sleepiness was rough at first, but now I'm used to it. Just make sure to talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.
Quetiapine saved my life. I was in a really bad place before I started taking it. It's helped me manage my bipolar disorder and I've had fewer manic episodes since I started taking it. I do have some side effects, but they're manageable. I've gained a bit of weight, but I'm trying to stay active and eat well to keep it under control. Overall, I'm really glad I gave it a shot.
I've been on quetiapine for about 6 months now and it's been a lifesaver. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and the depression side of things was really getting to me. A doctor personally recommended me to give quetiapine a shot. I think it's really helped with my mood swings and my sleep is a lot better. It has made me a bit sleepy, but it's worth it.
I was on 50mg for a while. It did help with my manic episodes, but the weight gain was real. I gained about 20 pounds in the first few months. I switched to a different medication and the weight is finally starting to come off.
