I've been taking Acidophilus 10mg Capsules for a couple of weeks now to help with digestive issues after a bout of antibiotics. I've noticed some improvement, but also some side effects like gas and stomach cramps. I'm wondering if these side effects are normal and if I should continue taking them. Has anyone else had similar experiences? Also, what are the most severe side effects to watch out for and what would happen in such cases? Are there any tips on how to mitigate the side effects?

I had issues with these too. The side effects are awful but thankfully they didn’t last long. Also, the pharmacist told me to take them with a meal to ease the stomach aches. I think it helped a bit.

I don't like any of the probiotics

I had a bad reaction to Acidophilus once. I woke up with a rash and I felt super weak and tired, which is really scary. I went to the ER and they said it was an allergic reaction. Thankfully, it’s rare, but it can happen. If you feel anything weird like that, don't wait around, get checked out!

Gas and stomach cramps aren't uncommon when starting probiotics. Try taking them with food or adjusting the dosage. If it's too much to deal with, you might want to try a different strain of probiotics — not all of them agree with everyone.

Side effects should go away after a while, but if they don’t, talk to your doctor. They might be able to adjust the dosage or recommend a different probiotic. Everyone's body reacts differently, so it's important to find what works best for you. A friend of mine had this problem and a dietitian helped them find the right probiotic.

I started taking Acidophilus after a round of antibiotics and it really helped with my digestive issues. I had some gas at first, but it went away after a week. Stick with it, but if it gets worse, you might want to talk to your doctor.
