I was recently diagnosed with ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer and started taking Alecensa 150mg capsules. The medication is supposed to block the abnormal ALK gene and slow down the growth of cancer cells. I've heard that it can have some serious side effects, so I'm documenting my experience and looking for insights from others who have been on this journey. What has your experience been like with Alecensa? Any tips for managing side effects?

I've only had minor side effects, like a headache or some back pain. I'm hoping it stays that way. Fingers crossed!

This thread has been really informative. Thanks to everyone who is sharing their experiences. I think it’s important to highlight just how crucial doctor oversight is, especially given the range of possible side effects. Who else has felt that their doctor's guidance was essential in managing symptoms? I'd love to know how others are faring.

Thank you for sharing this, it's really helpful to know there are ways to manage the fatigue. I've been feeling really tired as well, and it's good to hear that exercise can help.

Hey everyone, just a reminder to report any side effects you experience to the FDA. It's important for tracking the safety of these medications. Just call 1-800-332-1088 or go online to https://www.fda.gov/medwatch.

I've had really bad stomach issues with this drug. Like, every time I eat, it's a gamble. My doctor prescribed some medication to manage it, but it's still a struggle. Any tips on managing Alecensa-related stomach pain?

Just wanted to add that staying positive and having a support system has been really helpful for me. I can't stress enough how important it is to have people around you who understand what you're going through. Take care, everyone!

I've been on Alecensa for a couple of months and I've had some electrolyte imbalances. I've had to adjust my diet and take some supplements. It's been a bit of a journey, but I'm hoping it gets better with time. Does anyone else have tips for managing electrolyte problems?

I've been on Alecensa for a few months now, and while I've had some side effects, they've been manageable so far. I get a bit of fatigue, but I've found that regular light exercise and a balanced diet help a lot. Make sure you stay in close touch with your doctor about any concerning side effects, though — my doctor was very supportive with managing them.
