I've been prescribed Arixtra 7.5mg/0.6ml Prefill Syringe to prevent blood clots after a recent surgery. I was quite worried about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones like signs of an allergic reaction, bleeding problems, and low potassium levels. I was informed by my doctor that the drug works by thinning my blood to prevent new clots from forming and stop existing ones growing. The biggest challenge for me was learning how to administer the injections correctly. It's given as a shot under the skin, usually once a day. I was also very worried about the the severe side effects mentioned like muscle pain and abnormal symptoms like irregular heart beat. I did have some irritation at the injection site and trouble sleeping initially, but my doctor assured me these are common and should subside. I'm curious to hear if anyone else has experienced similar side effects or has advice on managing them. I'm also keen to know if anyone has reported any side effects to the FDA and how the process works. Additionally, I'm interested in knowing what are the worse side effects and should I really worry about them?

I've been on Arixtra for a while now, and honestly, the injection site irritation is the worst of it. Make sure you're rotating injection sites to minimize discomfort. I've also heard that applying a warm compress can help with any bruising.

I've been on Arixtra for a few months now and haven't experienced any major side effects. Just the usual injection site irritation. Make sure you're giving yourself the injections correctly to minimize discomfort. I've found a video online that helped me a lot. It's always good to double-check with your doctor for the best results.

I'm on my second week of Arixtra, I have red, swollen, blistered skin and fever. Am I overreacting?

I had some really bad side effects and had to stop using it. I actually had to go to the emergency department and consult with the emergency physician on duty. I had quite a few of the major symptoms. The doc said it was rare and almost never happens. I've never heard of this before.

I had trouble sleeping on this medication. I was given sleeping pills by my doctor but they didn't help. I had to get off the medication and onto another one.

This stuff is scary. I had a friend who had to stop using it because of severe allergic reactions.

If you're worried about side effects, make sure you're talking to your doctor regularly. They can help you manage any issues and decide if Arixtra is still the right medication for you. You're not alone in this.
