I was recently prescribed Barhemsys to help with post-surgery nausea and vomiting. The medication was administered via injection, and it worked surprisingly well in preventing those uncomfortable symptoms. However, I was a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the severe ones. The injection site did feel sore for a few hours, but that was the only discomfort I experienced. I wanted to start a discussion to share my experience and hear from others who may have used this medication. Has anyone else had a similar experience? What were your thoughts on the side effects and overall effectiveness?

My nurse mentioned that Barhemsys can sometimes cause hormonal changes. Anyone else experience this?

I’ve had a couple of surgeries and my doctor prescribed Barhemsys for all of them. It’s the most effective anti-nausea medication I’ve encountered. However, I did experience some dizziness, so always good to be cautious. Definitely recommend it if you’re struggling with post-surgery nausea, but keep an eye on those side effects like the OP suggested.

Barhemsys saved my day. But be careful about the low potassium levels—they can sneak up on you with muscle cramps and irregular heartbeat.

I had a similar experience with Barhemsys. The injection site was sore for a bit, but it was totally worth it to avoid the nausea. Just make sure to report any side effects right away if they get severe!

This stuff is a godsend for post-surgery nausea. I’ve had the injection site pain, but it was nothing compared to how sick I could have been. If you experience severe symptoms, don’t mess around—get medical help immediately.

I hate injections, but Barhemsys made the recovery process much easier. No nausea at all, which was a huge relief. Just make sure to preppped the area for the shot, it helps with the soreness later.

My mom had to use this after her surgery. The only thing she had was a sore arm. She was happy not to feel sick! Don't make this a habit – hope no more surgeries are needed by anyone.

Yes, if your doctor is aware of your medical history, they can monitor you for these hormonal changes. Mine prescribed some supportive treatments to go along with the Barhemsys. Be honest about your symptoms, and they should be able to help!

How quickly did the Barhemsys work for everyone? I want to make sure I plan for how I’m going to feel afterwards.
