I was recently prescribed Captopril/hctz 25/15 Tablets for high blood pressure and have been taking them for about a month now. The combination of Captopril (an ACE inhibitor) and Hydrochlorothiazide (a diuretic) seems to be effective in lowering my blood pressure. However, I've experienced some side effects that I wasn't prepared for, such as a persistent cough and occasional dizziness. I've also noticed that I need to be more mindful of staying hydrated because of the diuretic effect. I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences or has advice on managing these side effects. I've read about the potential for more serious side effects, like kidney problems and eye issues, which has me a bit worried. Does anyone have any insights or reassurances to share?

I've been on this medication for months and aside from some dizziness and a dry cough, I haven't had any major issues. It's been really effective for my blood pressure. Just stay hydrated and keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms.

I've had some stomach issues, nothing major, but it can get a bit uncomfortable at times. My doctor recommended taking it with food and it's helped a lot. Worth a shot if you're having similar issues.

I've been taking Captopril/hctz for a few months now and overall my blood pressure is much better. I have occasional light-headedness which goes away if I take it with food. So far so good. My doc mentioned being aware of the electrolyte imbalance but I haven't had any issues with that so far, thankfully.

I experienced some really weird mood swings and extreme fatigue. I thought I was just tired. Turned out it was electrolyte imbalance. I've been monitoring my electrolytes and drinking lots of water. I've also been making sure I'm taking my potassium supplements as prescribed. The fatigue has improved a lot since I corrected that.

I've been really careful with my diet since starting this med. Lots of potassium-rich foods and staying hydrated. I feel so much better.

I've noticed a big improvement in my blood pressure, but it's been a bit of a journey with the side effects. The worst was the persistent cough. My doc switched me to a different medication in the same class and it's much better now. Stick with it and talk to your doctor about any issues. If you have any issues with eye pain or vision changes, get to the doctor immediately. My friend had that and it got serious.

My doctor told me that the risk of skin cancer is real, but rare. I've started using sunscreen religiously and get a mole check every six months. Better safe than sorry, right?

I started feeling really tired and weak after a few weeks. Turned out I was dehydrated because of the diuretic. Make sure you're drinking enough water and eating foods with electrolytes. I've improved a lot since I corrected that.

I had no idea this medication could cause liver problems! I'll keep an eye out for those symptoms. Thanks for sharing, everyone.

I've been on this med for a while and the persistent cough was a problem for me too. My doctor switched me to a different ACE inhibitor and it cleared up. Might be worth talking to your doc about.
