My Experience with Fluorouracil 0.5% Cream for Actinic Keratoses
I started using Fluorouracil 0.5% Cream a few weeks ago to treat some actinic keratoses on my face. The instructions said to apply it twice a day for about 2-4 weeks, and my dermatologist warned me about the potential side effects. So far, my skin has become quite red and irritated. There are also some scabs forming, which I know is normal, but it's still a bit scary. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this treatment and can share their experiences? Also, any tips on how to manage the redness and irritation would be greatly appreciated! I'm hoping that my skin will heal completely after the treatment, as the doctor promised.

I went through the same treatment last year. It's definitely unpleasant, but it worked for me. Stick with it, and hopefully, your skin will clear up completely. I found that using a gentle moisturizer helped with the irritation.
I used this cream for a basal cell carcinoma and it worked wonders. My doctor recommended it post-surgery, and after 4 weeks, the irritated skin was no longer there.
How long did it take for your skin to heal completely after stopping the treatment?
I wish I could do something to share what’s going on with me. It’s not comfortable, but the doctor said to keep going. So you should try it.
This treatment sucks, but it's worth it in the end.
