I started my dad on Galantamine ER 24mg Capsules a few months ago to help manage his mild Alzheimer's. I've noticed some improvements in his memory, but I'm also a bit worried about the side effects. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, especially regarding the side effects and how to manage them. I've seen a lot of the common ones listed, but I want to know if anyone has had any of the rare, more severe ones. If so, how did you deal with them?

One thing that caught my attention was the possibility of severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome. That sounds terrifying, and I want to be prepared. Any advice from caregivers or medical professionals would be much appreciated. I also want to know if there are any alternative treatments if the side effects become too much to handle.

I'm looking for a community of people who understand what I'm going through and can offer some guidance or support. I'm all ears!

Be careful with the long-term effects. Some studies show that Galantamine might have kidney issues.

I had my mom on a regimen of Galantamine. It was challenging for the first few weeks, with a list of minor side effects. It took 3 months before we had an optimal regimen. And guess what? She’s better now!

Galantamine is only effective for a short period of time. When my parent got used to it, the effect wore out.

The more I read about it, the more it sounds like a double-edged sword. Is there any alternative that is safer?

My experience with Galantamine was not as good as I hoped. My wife experienced significant weight loss and nausea. We had to stop the medication, but it was hard to get her back to normal afterwards.

My grandma was on Galantamine, and it helped a lot with her memory. She had a few side effects like dizziness and diarrhea, but we managed them with some adjustments. It's a tough journey, but worth it to see her improvement.
