I was prescribed Nitroglycerin IV 50mg infusions to manage my angina symptoms. I had some questions before starting the treatment. What does a typical infusion session feel like? I am a little concerned about the possible side effects listed. How severe are these? For reference, I'm 53, fairly healthy, and have been experiencing recurrent chest pain during exertion. Any insights from others who have been through this? How quickly did the drug work? Has anyone else experienced severe side effects? Tips for managing minor ones?

I’m not sure if this is common, but I felt extremely tired after my infusion. My nurse said it’s a side effect and should go away with rest. How common is this?

Nitroglycerin can be a lifesaver, but it's important to be aware of the potential side effects. Always have someone with you during the first few times you take it, just in case you experience severe dizziness or fainting. My wife had to catch me when it first happened to me.

Did anyone else experience flushing? My face turned beet red during the infusion, and it worried me at first. The nurse explained it was normal and just a sign the medicine is working. It faded quickly.

I've been given Nitroglycerin a few times during heart attacks. It always worked quickly. I did have some minor side effects, like a headache and dizziness. I just made sure to rest and drink plenty of water. It’s worth it if you feel the chest pain going away.

I had a bad reaction once. Seemed like an allergic reaction, with itching and hives. My doctor switched me to another medication right away. If you feel any of those severe symptoms, go to the ER immediately. Don't wait it out.

Keep an eye out for any signs of an allergic reaction. If you start itching, get hives, or develop wheezing, seek medical help immediately. My uncle had a bad reaction once, and it was scary.

I've had Nitroglycerin IVs a few times, and it always helps my chest pain. One time, I had a bad headache afterward, but taking some OTC painkillers along with plenty of water helped.

I was really scared of the side effects, but my doctor assured me they're rare. I've had a few headaches, but nothing serious. Make sure to talk to your doctor about any worries, though. Better safe than sorry!.
