I started taking Pyridium 200mg tablets for my recent UTI, and while they did relieve the pain, I had some questions. This drug is meant to ease the pain and urgency caused by UTIs, but it doesn't treat the infection itself. It works by numbing the lining of the urinary tract. It seems to be commonly prescribed alongside an antibiotic. Has anyone else had this experience? I'm curious about the side effects too—I've read about some serious ones, and even though they're rare, it's a bit worrying. What should we look out for?

Methemoglobinemia is a severe side effect to look out for. Symptoms include blue or gray skin, abnormal heartbeat, and seizures. If you experience any of these, seek emergency medical attention immediately.

I had a really bad reaction to Pyridium once. It turned out I was allergic. I ended up with hives and swelling and had to go to the ER. If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction, like rash, hives, or trouble breathing, get to a doctor ASAP! Side effects are rare, but when they happen, they can be scary.

Liver problems can be a serious side effect of Pyridium. Watch out for symptoms like dark urine, fatigue, and yellowing of the skin or eyes. Always report serious side effects to your doctor.

Pyridium worked for me, but I got a headache. Just one of those annoying side effects. I got through it though, pain-free and infection-free!

Forget the headache, and even the weird orange urine. I'd rather deal with that than the pain of a UTI. Just make sure to stay hydrated and finish your antibiotic.

I took Pyridium for my last UTI and it was a lifesaver. The burning sensation went away almost immediately, but I also took an antibiotic. Always stick to the prescribed dose and finish the antibiotic course!

Just a heads up, the urine turns a reddish/orange color when you take Pyridium. It’s a bit alarming at first, but it’s normal and not a sign of serious bleeding. It’s a red-flag for everyone who’s not aware of it though!

Everyone is different, so the side effects you get might not be the same as someone else. Headaches and stuff are common, but if you experience something unusual, trust your gut and contact your doctor.

I've had a few UTIs and Pyridium always helps, but this new prescription of antibiotic is also working well. I’ve not felt this good in ages. You should really talk to your doctor about what combination will work best for you.
