I had a spinal block with this medicine during my childbirth and had a few questions beforehand. I was curious about others' experiences and what to expect. The anesthesiologist explained that this medicine would numb my lower half with a 20ml injection, blocking nerve signals to prevent pain during delivery. The process was relatively quick, and the effects were temporary, which was reassuring. However, I was aware of the possible side effects, and it was important for me to discuss any concerns with the healthcare provider. Overall, it was an informative session, and I feel better prepared for the procedure.

Ouch! Feeling sleepy, confused, and having trouble speaking? I'd rather have a headache any day.

Thanks for sharing your experience. If I go for surgery, I'll be sure to ask about Nesacaine. And if this temporary numbness is the price, I'll pay it gladly to manage pain.

I'm glad the procedure went smoothly for you. Just a heads-up, the injection site can be irritated. My friend developed a slight rash, it was a bit annoying, but not serious. She used a cream for it, and it cleared up in a few days.

Serious question: What do you do if you experience prolonged numbness in your legs? I was told it's rare, but it's terrifying nonetheless.

I've had spinal anesthesia three times now (including once with Nesacaine), but my first time was the most nerve-wracking. I was so concerned about the spinal-related side effects, like long-lasting numbness and paralysis, but nothing like that happened. Listening to the doctor's instructions and following their advice is crucial. Same with speaking up if you have concerns.

Don't worry about the other side effects. True, the risk is low but take care that the healthcare provider is aware of your medical history before the injection. It's important to be vigilant, but don't let fear of rare side effects stop you from getting the pain relief you need.

I saw that chest pain or pressure is a listed side effect. For those who need to know, does this go away after the drug wears off?

Blue lips are scary, for sure. Had no clue that methemoglobinemia was a thing. Thanks for the heads-up.

I had a similar experience with Nesacaine during my C-section. The numbness was perfect, and I had no pain, but the side effects were quite intense. I felt extremely lightheaded and weak, and it was hard for me to stay awake. If you are a first-time user, be prepared for a few after-effects.

If you experience any shortness of breath, take a break and let the medical team know. That could be a sign of too much acid in the blood. They can immediately help you out.
