My experience with Visipaque 320mg/ml Inj for CT scan and my scary side effects
I recently had to get a CT scan and the doctor injected me with Visipaque 320mg/ml Inj. The scan went well, but I was surprised and a little scared because I experienced some side effects. While most were minor, a few were more serious. I looked up the possible side effects and the list was a lot longer than I expected. I wanted to share my experience and see if others had similar reactions. I also want to know if anyone has experienced any long term side effects, or how to manage them. I was really scared when I was having these symptoms. What did you do when you had the side effects?

I'm really sorry to hear that! Have you talked to your doctor about switching to a different contrast agent? I know some people have allergic reactions to the iodine. I am actually allergic to iodine. It is wicked scary when you can't breathe. I almost had my own one-man panic attack.
I had a really bad reaction to Visipaque. I started having trouble breathing and my throat felt like it was closing up. I was rushed to the ER and ended up staying overnight for observation. It was terrifying. I'm definitely asking for an alternative next time I need a scan.
I had Visipaque and it wasn't so bad! Just felt a little warm for a bit.
My sister had a reaction to the contrast agent. She got hives and it took a few hours to go away. I think she is allergic to iodine. She took a two day nap and woke up feeling better. I have not had any side effects but I am allergic to a lot of things. I am worried that I might be allergic to this too.
I had a similar experience. I got really itchy and broke out in hives. I had rheumatic fever as a child, and now I can't really afford to make that happen. I had to take some benadryl and the rest of the day was spent sleeping it off. I do remember feeling a little warm like the other commenter said.
My doctor told me that most people don't experience severe side effects. I did notice some irritation at the injection site, but it went away quickly. It went away just as quickly as I had it. I must have been scared and did not notice the chances of me having a severe reaction. Now that I look at the side effects list, I am worried that I might be in danger. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.
I've never heard of anyone having such a bad reaction to Visipaque. It might be worth checking if you have any allergies or sensitivities. I had a friend who had a reaction to iodine. She was on the floor, gasping for air. It was scary. He told me that he was so scared. I could see how it could mess you up.
I've never had any issues with Visipaque. I've had several CT scans and never experienced any side effects. I guess I got lucky. I've had a few other contrast agents that made me feel really weird and I had to lay in bed for a bit. I do not like feeling weird. It took 45 minutes after getting the injection and I was finally able to stand up and walk.
I got really dizzy and fainted after my injection. I woke up in the hospital room and the nurse said I had fainted. I was lucky that the nurse was close by. My husband had his heart in his throat. I think I scared him to death.
I had a weird tingling sensation all over my body after the injection. I thought it was just the anxiety but it lasted for about an hour. If you see someone who has a lot of anxiety, saying that they have a weird tingling sensation, that could be one of the side effects.
