Has anyone else had experience with Zelboraf 240mg for treating melanoma with the BRAF V600 mutation? I've been on it for a few weeks and while it seems to be helping with the cancer, the side effects are rough—especially the skin changes. I'm looking for tips on managing these. It seems common to develop some redness or blisters, and while it's not always serious it can feel scary and look pretty bad. I've also noticed some hair loss and changes in taste. Has anyone else dealt with these things? How have you coped? I've heard some people have bad reactions and I want to be prepared in case things get worse. Any advice on managing these symptoms or what to look out for?

For the skin changes, my doctor recommended a gentle moisturizer with ceramides. It helped a lot with the dryness and redness. Also, a humectant can help with the dryness. Just be careful with anything fragrance. It's never good to put anything on your skin that has fragrance due to the fact that it can exacerbate the dryness and irritation.

I find it really amazing how different people react to the same treatment. Some people barely have any side effects and others deal with a lot. It can feel really isolating sometimes. But it's good to know we're not alone and there are others going through the same thing. I also started on an anti-anxiety medication to help with the mental side effects. It's helped a lot.

I know it sounds odd, but some people find that drinking a lot of water can help with the skin changes. It’s worth a shot! And if you notice any severe reactions, make sure to get to the doctor ASAP.

I had some pretty severe skin changes when I started Zelboraf. I had to use a super hydrating moisturizer and wear sunscreen religiously. Sun protection is crucial, even indoors as light can affect the skin and cause flare-ups. I also switched to a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. My doctor recommended a topical steroid for bad flare-ups. It's not fun, but managing skin changes is key.

I started on Zelboraf last month and it’s been a rough ride. The redness and irritation on my hands and feet are insane. I have to wear gloves and socks most of the time. I've found some relief by soaking my hands and feet in cool water, but it still sucks. Drink lots of water and stay cool.

I have to mention that it's always best to talk to your doctor if the side effects get too much. They can adjust your dosage or suggest other ways to manage them if needed. Also, don't forget to wear sun screen. It's a lot of work but it's worth it to stay positive and healthy.

I agree with the skin stuff but the worst part was the changes in taste. I thought I was going to lose my mind. Foods I loved suddenly tasted awful. I started using a lot of herbs and spices to mask the taste. It helped a bit but it was still tough.

Zelboraf is tough, but it’s doing its job. I remind myself of that whenever the side effects get too much. Just take it one day at a time and stay in close contact with your medical team.

I’ve been on Zelboraf for about 6 months now. The hair loss was tough at first, but I’ve found that using a mild shampoo and avoiding heat styling helps. I also use a silk pillowcase to reduce friction on my scalp. For the taste changes, I found that sour and spicy foods actually helped me out. It's all about finding what works for you.
