My family was recently prescribed Chemet 100mg capsules for lead poisoning treatment. My doctor told me that these pills can help remove lead from the body through urine. Has anyone here taken these, and if so, what was your experience like? I'm worried about the side effects because my son is so small. I'm also wondering if there are any dietary restrictions or lifestyle changes we need to make during treatment. The doctor didn’t give much detail on what to expect in terms of our daily lives. Any insights or advice from fellow users would be greatly appreciated. Especially tips for managing kids during this difficult time.

We had to deal with lead poisoning in our home after a renovation gone wrong. My kids were prescribed Chemet too. The most challenging part was managing their appetite. They lost interest in eating, which was really worrying. We had to get creative with meals—smoothies, soups, anything easy to consume. It was tough, but they pulled through.

I took Chemet for lead poisoning a few years ago and found the side effects to be pretty manageable. The metallic taste was the worst, and it was really hard to eat at first. But I didn’t experience any of the severe side effects. I did get dizzy at times but it went away after a while, Pro-tip: eat a lot of sour candies to mask the taste.

I had a friend who took Chemet after their house had a lead paint issue. Their experience was horrible. They ended up in the hospital with a severe allergic reaction. I’m not saying this will happen to you, but be vigilant. If anything seems off, go to the ER immediately.

Chemet saved my life. I was exposed to lead at work, and it was a nightmare. The treatment was tough, but it worked. The worst part was the constant fatigue and dizziness. But nobody mentioned the metallic taste. Just eat a lot of sour candy. You'll survive.

I can't believe this didn't come up before, this stuff is a lifesaver.

I hope it goes well for you and your family. Lead poisoning is no joke, but Chemet can really help. Just make sure to monitor your kid closely and don’t hesitate to call the doctor if anything seems off.

I'm not sure how to react to this new info. Kinda nervous but we'll see how it goes. I won't discuss with my doctor and see what they have to say.

Just make sure to keep hydrated and follow your doctor’s instructions to the letter. It’s important to finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

How small is your son? If he's really small, I would suggest talking to your doctor about adjusting the dose. My nephew had to take a lower dose because he was so little. Monitoring his health was imperative, especially given his smaller body size.

My mother had to take this after a serious lead issue. It was rough, but she recovered well. The most important thing is to stay in constant contact with your doctor. They can help you manage side effects and adjust the treatment if needed.
