I've been on Isotretinoin 30mg capsules for about three months now, and I've seen some significant improvements in my severe acne. However, the side effects have been brutal. I'm dealing with constant dryness and occasional mouth or nose irritation. My lips are literally cracking in half with the slightest smile. But what worries me more are the potential long-term side effects. I’ve heard horror stories about the severe reactions and am constantly paranoid about developing something life-threatening. Has anyone else experienced similar side effects, and how did you manage them? Also, any tips on how to soothe the dryness and irritation would be much appreciated.

I developed a rash and itching early on, but it went away after a few days. I was terrified, but my doctor assured me it was just a temporary reaction. I made sure to eat a balanced diet and drink plenty of water to help manage the side effects.

I had to take a break from Isotretinoin because of liver issues. My doctor said it was a rare reaction, but it was scary. My body was giving me a sign, and I had to listen to it. I'm hoping to go back on it soon but I'm not sure if I'll be able to handle it. I'm glad you're seeing improvements though.

I had terrible joint pain. It was so bad that I couldn’t even walk for a bit, and I love long walks. My doctor put me on anti-inflammatories, and it helped a lot. I feel sorry for anyone developing skeletal problems, that's a bad one.

I'm really scared of the potential side effects too. The list is so long and scary!

I just started Isotretinoin about a week ago, and I’m already feeling pretty tired. So far no dry skin or lips but I haven't experienced anything major despite the scary list of side effects. I'm using a gentle face wash and no makeup, and it seems to be doing the trick for now.

A little tip, eat a lot of fat intake in your diet like nuts and avocado, they help a lot with the dryness.

My doctor said to be on the lookout for any signs of depression or mood changes. It's not just the physical side effects you need to worry about. I've had some ups and downs but I talk to my doctor regularly.

I was on Isotretinoin for a year, and while it was tough, it was totally worth it. My acne cleared up completely. I used Aquaphor obsessively to deal with the dryness. Just be sure to stay hydrated and use lots of moisturizer. You'll get through it!

I actually got high blood sugar levels while on Isotretinoin. I thought I was going haywire, and my doctor prescribed me a higher dose of insulin at first so I wouldn't need to take insulin shots in the future. My dad was on it back in the day and he stepped on the scale one day and his clothes were falling off! Apparently it can be a short term benefit for the weight loss, and I should have gone for a run!
