I have a 8 month old baby who has been sick with a fever. Pediatrician recommended Acetaminophen Infant 160mg/5ml Susp for lowering fever. The medicine seems to work, but unfortunately my pediatrician didn't give me much information. Online, I see some scary information regarding side effects. Should I be worried about any of these? Is this just a common medicine to give to kids? I don't want to be the worried parent asking too many questions but I also don't want to be in a panic if my child has any type of allergic reaction. I need advice from parents and experts.

I had no idea there were so many sides effects to this. Hopefully your baby is fine. Don't stress though, the doctor prescribed it for a reason.

Did your pediatrician mention the max dosage amount? I know we can only give our kids so much and then we need to call the doctor. I remember my kids doctor giving me a little informational sheet when we picked up the prescription. Was yours different?

I have used acetaminophen suspension for my kids before and never had any problems. Just follow the dosage on the bottle and you should be fine.

I think this is a good question. While acetaminophen is generally safe, it's important to be aware of the potential side effects. It is important to follow the instructions given by the pediatrician. If your kid has a known allergy, you have to be even more careful and discuss all options with your pediatrician. My kid had a bad allergic reaction after the first dose. Don't panic, but be prepared just in case. You know your kid best, so if anything seems off, don't hesitate to call your doctor.
