My wound won't heal, my doc prescribed Dakins Solution but side effects scare me, anyone used it?
I've been struggling with a stubborn wound that just won't heal. My doctor prescribed Dakin's Solution to help clean it and prevent infection. I understand it's an antiseptic liquid that helps remove dead tissue, but the possible side effects have me worried, especially the allergic reactions. Has anyone else used this stuff? Was it easy to use? Did you experience any side effects? TIA

I was prescribed this for a burn and it stung like crazy but it worked really well. I had no severe side effects. Make sure to apply a thin layer and keep the area clean.
I'm a medical professional, hope this helps. I've not had any problems using it. It's a great way to prevent infections, especially in diabetic patients.
Dakin's Solution saved my foot during a hiking injury. Just make sure to dilute it as directed. I made that mistake once and let me tell you, it burns like hell.
I had a bad reaction to it. My skin got really red and itchy, but I'm allergic to a lot of stuff. Maybe you could ask your doctor if there are any alternatives?
I think it's best to follow doctor's orders. If your doctor prescribed it, then it's probably the best course of action. Just make sure to monitor the wound and if you experience any severe side effects, seek medical attention immediately.
My mom is a nurse and she swears by this stuff. She says it's great for preventing infections. Just make sure to follow the instructions carefully.
I used it on my cat's wound and it worked great, so I'm sure it will work on you just fine :-P. But seriously, if you're worried about side effects, maybe talk to your doctor about it?
I've used it before and it worked wonders on my wound. No side effects for me but a word of caution: it can sting a bit when you apply it. It's nothing major though. It's a bit of a pain to use every time the bandage needs to be changed, but it's worth it.
The severity of side effects depends on how well you take care of the wound. I did the same thing the doctor instructed and now I'm okay.
