I was recently prescribed Temodar 5mg Capsules (Temozolomide) to treat a brain tumor. The oncology team explained that it works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells, but I'm a bit nervous about the side effects. Has anyone else gone through this treatment? What was your experience like? I'm particularly worried about the more severe symptoms mentioned in the urgent side effects list. How did your doctors manage these potential issues? Also, what can I expect in terms of the treatment cycle? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been on Temodar for about 6 months. The cycles definitely helped. I took it for 5 days, then had 23 days off. The worst part for me was the constant fatigue. But watching my diet and getting enough sleep really seemed to help. Just remember to listen to your body and rest when you need to. And yes, it caused a lot of memory issues but I think they can be managed with medication.

I'd be careful with the memory problems — they can be really disturbing. I remember when my mom took it, she had frequent blackouts and memory lapses. It was hard on her and the whole family. So, please be cautious.

I've been on Temodar for a few months now, and while it's tough, the nausea and fatigue were manageable with medication. My oncologist advised taking it in the evening and using anti-nausea meds to help sleep through some of the worst effects. The hair loss was brutal though...

I've heard from a few people on other forums that the hair loss isn't always as bad as you think. Wearing a wig or a hat when it first happens can be a good option. On the other hand, make sure to wear comfortable shoes because your feet will swell and hurt. Also, keep in mind that taking it in cycles can make it feel more manageable. Good luck!

I had a pretty good experience with Temodar overall, but the worst part was the mouth sores. The doctor gave me a special mouth rinse to help, but it still sucked. The best part is that everyone I know who took it got a tumor reduction

I've heard that the side effects can be really scary and unpredictable, so maybe get a lot of pamphlets and call the doctors frequently. But in the end, it's worth it. It's got a lot of success cases if you know how to handle its tricky ways.

It's important to stay hydrated and take care of your mouth. I used coconut oil swishing and that helped soothe the sores. Just let the oil hang in your mouth for a bit before spitting it out.

Do the doctors tell you how long to keep on the pill? Did you eventually stop taking it? What was the best part about it? The worst part? Just tell me what to expect.

I had a bad reaction to Temodar - like the red, peeling skin they warn about. Scary stuff. But it luckily subsided when I switched to a different chemo. Do you have any other treatment options? Always good to have a Plan B!

The treatment can be rough on your body, but I found that keeping a daily journal helped me track my symptoms and feelings, and it helped me feel a bit more in control. Also, the dark urine was happened to me and I was scared out of my mind. Also, support groups are amazing. They can provide a lot of emotional support.
