I've recently been prescribed Calcitriol 1mcg/ml Inj, 1ml for low calcium levels and bone disease. This is a man-made form of vitamin D primarily used for people with kidney failure who are on dialysis. I am curious to hear from anyone who has experience with this medication. What have been your experiences? What side effects did you encounter? Is there anything you wish you'd known before starting? I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially since the urgent side effects can be life-threatening.

I had a friend who had to stop using Calcitriol because of the bone pain. You should definitely make a checklist of symptoms to watch for and keep it handy. That way you can be sure you're caught up on anything out of the ordinary.

I've been on Calcitriol for a few months now, and while I haven't had any side effects that make me worry, I do get the usual nausea and headache after taking it. Your doctor should be able to help you manage these side effects. It's also important to keep track of your calcium levels and be aware of any signs of hypercalcemia, as it can be serious and hard to manage.

Hope you're doing okay with your new prescription. I was also nervous about the side effects. I've actually had some relief from bone pain after a few weeks of treatment. My advice: make sure your doctor monitors your calcium levels very closely. If you're getting too much calcium, they can adjust your dosage.

I feel like it's a pretty safe drug if monitored properly. Just make sure to check in with your doctor regularly for calcium and phosphorus levels and be aware of any signs of unusual weakness or confusion. If you have any skin reactions, get to the doctor immediately, those can be very tricky if not treated in time.

Just started on this yesterday. Trying to give it a chance, but wish me luck because I’m feeling a bit sick right now.
