Hello all, I've been prescribed Jakafi 10mg Tablets for myelofibrosis. I've read through the generic info but wanted to hear about personal experiences. What side effects did you experience, especially in the first few months? How did you manage them and did they eventually subside? How often did you report them to your doctor versus letting them pass? I'm curious about the trade-offs. Thanks!

I had a serious allergic reaction with this medicine. I got hives and had to be rushed to the hospital. I ended up switching to another medication. These side effects are scary, for sure.

I had a few problems with infections at the start. I had a UTI that was pretty intense, but my doctor put me on antibiotics and it cleared up. Just be vigilant about those signs!

I got pretty freaked out by some of the serious side effects like PML and skin cancer. But my doctor assured me that these are extremely rare. Just keep an eye out for any strange symptoms and report them immediately.

I'm really glad I found this thread. It's good to hear from others who have been through this. It's tough, but it sounds like most of you are doing well. Hang in there!

I was prescribed Jakafi and it did wonders for my blood count issues, also reduced my enlarged spleen. But, I've had some pretty unpleasant muscle spasms and pains. My doctor prescribed some painkillers and it's gotten better, but it was tough at first.

Anyone else have issues with skin cancer? I got a really nasty rash and it was scary.

I've been on Jakafi for about 6 months now, and I've only had minor issues like weight gain and a bit of dizziness. It's worth it for me because it's dramatically reduced my spleen size.

You guys are making this sound like a horror movie. My experience has been fairly smooth, but I had a bit of diarrhea initially. Kept hydration up and it went by in a few days. Don't think twice about speaking to your doc, if in doubt. I got great support from my team and made it through.

I've heard that some people also struggle with constipation, anyone else have issues with that? Any tips you can share on how to manage it?

Did anyone else experience serious issues if they had a history of high blood pressure? I've been a bit worried about that one.
