I've been taking Niacin 500mg ER Tablets for about 3 months now to help manage my cholesterol levels. The doctor said it's great because it lowers my LDL and raises my HDL, which is exactly what I need. I was worried about the flushing side effect, but I found that taking an aspirin 30 minutes before my dose really helps. I do wake up sometimes at night feeling flushed, but getting up slowly helps with the dizziness and lightheadedness. Overall, I think the side effects are manageable. I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience with flushing or if there are other tips to manage it. Also, how do you know if it's working? Does anyone know what the best way to monitor my cholesterol levels at home is?

I’ve been taking Niacin for about 6 months and the flushing has decreased over time. I also experienced some itching and dry skin, but those side effects went away after a few weeks. I highly recommend Niacin if you're looking to improve your cholesterol levels.

I hate the flushing. I don't know how people handle it. I'm going to ask my doctor at my next check-up if there are alternatives. I'm also scared of liver problems, so it's not worth it for me.

Did you ever get the flushing to stop? Only started taking niacin and woke up with the night sweats and feeling like I could pass out. I'm wondering if I should stop it or just push through it. Did you take niacin with food? Did that make a difference?

I heard that Niacin can increase your blood sugar levels. Has anyone noticed this side effect?

I have been taking Niacin and I do experience flushing, but it's manageable. I also experience dry skin, but moisturizing has helped. It is worth it for me because of the results I'm seeing in my cholesterol levels. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Niacin to someone who needs it.

I've had some serious muscle pain with Niacin. I'm taking a statin too, so I'm worried about rhabdomyolysis. Has anyone else experienced muscle issues or know how to deal with this?

I've been on Niacin for a while and the flushing is brutal. I tried the aspirin trick but it didn't work for me. Maybe I'll try getting up slowly if I wake up flushing. How long did it take for you to see improvements in your cholesterol levels?

Definitely report any severe side effects to your doctor. I had a bad reaction to Niacin and had to switch meds.

What's the best way to monitor your cholesterol levels at home if you're taking Niacin? I'm curious because I want to keep track of my progress.

I'm glad to hear that aspirin helps with the flushing. I've been thinking about trying Niacin, but the side effects scared me off. Thanks for the tip!
