I've been using Nicotine Polacrilex 2mg Chewing Gum for about a month now to help me quit smoking. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster. The gum definitely helps with the cravings, but I've experienced some side effects that I wasn't expecting. I've had trouble sleeping at night, and occasionally I get a bad dream that wakes me up. I've also felt nervous and excitable before, and I haven't been sleeping well. I'm not sure if it's the gum or nicotine, but it's been tough at times. I thought I'd share my experience and see if anyone else has gone through the same thing. Is this a symptom of withdrawal or the gum itself?

I tried nicotine gum once. I got a mouth burn and felt nauseous. I couldn't handle it! I switched to the lozenges. They seem to work better for me. What was the point of using the gum if it wouldn't even give me the results I wanted after trying the other options? Any suggestions?

I'm on my third week with the gum and haven't had any side effects yet. Maybe I'm lucky, or maybe it just takes time for them to show up. Good luck with your quit, OP!

Glad to hear it's working for you, OP. Just remember, it's a journey. Keep at it, and don't be too hard on yourself if you have setbacks. But also, please be careful. These side effects are nothing to laugh at. I can't believe people don't understand how serious this is.

I had a weird tingling sensation in my mouth the first few times I used it. Did anyone else get that?

Be careful with the gum if you have any dental issues. I had some mild irritation at the application site, but it went away. I did notice some changes in my teeth since I started using it, though. I do think the gum is working, but I want to transition to a patch or something soon to give my mouth a break. I think it might be easier to take the gum once a day instead of multiple times a day, but I don't know how that would affect the withdrawal symptoms.
