I've been working in the ICU for a few years now and have used Norepin/D5W 8mg/250ml Inj, 250ml quite a bit. However, I've only just discovered this subreddit and I'm curious how others compare Norepin to other vasopressors. Do you prefer it for certain conditions or patients? I've found it really effective for septic shock, but I'm interested in hearing other perspectives. Does anyone find that it causes more complications with the IV site? My patients don’t seem to experience this too often, but I’ve heard it could cause ectopic tissue damage if it leaks. What have your experiences with this medication been like? Do you prefer it over other vasopressors for different conditions or situations? What is the most effective dosage regimen?

I find it to be more stable than Dopamine, especially when dealing with septic shock. I always alert the nursing staff to monitor for any leakage around the injection site. They're trained to be vigilant for redness, burning, or swelling. Have you had any similar issues?

I've found Norepin to be very effective in managing hypotension, but I always keep an eye out for signs of tissue damage around the IV site. I usually start with a lower dose and titrate up slowly.

I've had some patients experience severe headaches while on Norepin. I always make sure to monitor their blood pressure closely.

I'm curious about the side effects. Any experiences with those urinary catheter funnels or sudden weight gain? I’m always suspicious of renal issues.

I think it's great for sepsis, but I've had some patients with really severe side effects especially if they're already prone to erratic blood pressure.

Have you tried using it in combination with other vasopressors? I've had mixed results, but I think it can be really effective when used with the right mix for the right patient.

I've never had any issues with tissue necrosis, but I do make sure to have a dedicated IV line for it. It's a lifesaver, but you can't be too careful.
