I had a severe allergic reaction to Ocaliva. I swelled up like a balloon and had trouble breathing. I ended up in the ER, and they told me to never take it again. Everyone's body reacts differently, so it's important to be vigilant and talk to your doctor.
I agree! And if you're feeling really bad, you need to go to the ER and be evaluated. You should get the help you need now, not wait.
Be careful, but don't be afraid to talk to your doctor. Give it some time and don't switch meds yourself.

I've been on Ocaliva for about 6 months now, and it's been a game-changer for managing my itching. No more constant scratching keeping me up at night! I did have some initial side effects like dry skin and joint pain, but my doctor adjusted my dose and it got better.
