I was recently given Omnipaque 140mg/ml Inj, 50ml for an X-ray scan and was surprised to learn about the various side effects. It's a contrast dye containing iodine which helps to highlight parts of the body to get clearer images on scans. However, it's important to be aware of the potential side effects. I noticed some discomfort, but I'm glad to have known the urgent symptoms to look out for before injection.

I had a CT scan that required an injection of Omnipaque at the hospital, and while I didn't experience any severe side effects, it's important to be prepared for the possibilities. The most concerning information is about possible allergic reactions, which can be serious and even fatal if not quickly recognized.

The risk of tissue damage from the injection site is also something to keep in mind. I have to ask, has anyone here experienced any of these severe side effects? It would be helpful to know if there are any tips to manage or prevent them.

I had a friend who had to stop because of a severe reaction. He was OK in the end and now is fine, but for a while, it was pretty serious. Keep that in mind. And don't ignore any signs of severe side effects.

It's not to be ignored. The tissue damage from the injection can be serious. And if the medication leaks from the vein, it can cause some serious damage. Inform your nurse if you experience redness, burning, pain, swelling, blisters, skin sores, or fluid leakage at the injection site. Stay alert.

I will add that Omnipaque is widely used because it's effective and generally safe for most people. It's important to weigh the benefits of clear, accurate imaging against the potential risks. But let’s not be too frightened. Most people who get this injection do not experience severe side effects.

I'm glad you posted this. I had no idea about these potential side effects. It's scary to think about possible allergic reactions or even the severe skin reactions they mentioned. Hope everyone out there is vigilant.

I had an allergic reaction to Omnipaque and it was terrifying. I started getting hives and had trouble breathing. Luckily, the medical team was prepared and had me in the emergency department within 10 minutes. It’s seriously important to be aware of the signs and seek help immediately if you experience any symptoms. I only felt fine after getting an injection of antihistamine and a dose of epinephrine.

I had Omnipaque for an X-ray last year and felt a bit nauseous and had a mild headache afterwards. It was uncomfortable, but nothing too bad. It was worth it for the clarity of the scan results.
