I've been prescribed Ongentys 25mg Capsules to complement my levodopa/carbidopa regimen for Parkinson's disease. The medication aims to reduce 'off' time by blocking the enzyme that breaks down levodopa, which helps my medication work better and for a longer period. However, I'm concerned about the potential side effects, particularly the urgent ones like hallucinations or allergic reactions that require immediate medical attention. Has anyone else had experience with this? How did it work for you? Also, is anyone familiar with the rare but serious condition neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS)? This is a bit overwhelming and I'm looking for some reassurance and additional insights.

Never heard of Ongentys and I have Parkinson's. How do you like it compared to other meds you've been on? I'm constantly looking for anything that might help with the levodopa fluctuations.

Be cautious with this medicine, but don't let the possible side effects scare you away. It's definitely worth trying if you're struggling with 'off' time. Listen to your doctor and adjust your treatment accordingly.

I had to stop taking it because of the uncontrollable urges. It seemed like I just couldn't stop spending money, eating, and gambling. Just make sure you're aware of this potential side effect.

Be careful with the side effects, though. I had some really bad hallucinations at first, but they subsided after a few weeks. My doctor adjusted the dose, and it's been fine since.

I tried Ongentys for two days, ended up in the ER with a nasty rash and fever. Was scarily close to an allergic reaction and the doctors said it could have been fatal and they didn't want to risk it. It's great that it helps others, but it's also a reminder that everyone's body responds differently to medications.

I've heard great things about this medication, especially for people who are struggling with the fluctuations in their levodopa effectiveness. It can definitely take some time to adjust, so don't get discouraged if you hit a few bumps early on.

Is there anything else that can be paired with Ongentys which may help with the side effects? Like a special diet or other supplements? I'm open to anything that could make this easier.

I'm not experiencing any side effects so far, but I do feel a bit dizzy whenever I stand up too quickly. Anything I can do about this?
