Hello everyone, I've been given Oxaliplatin as part of my colorectal cancer treatment. The nurse explained it's used to stop cancer cells from growing. I'm curious about others' experiences with this drug. What side effects have you encountered, and how did you manage them? Also, what are the best practices when dealing with the more troublesome side effects like the neuropathy and muscle pain?

Oxaliplatin is tough. I had severe neuropathy initially, but it got better with time. I used gloves and socks when handling cold items. Also, talk to your doctor about neuropathic pain medications. They can help a lot!

I was on Oxaliplatin for a while and the fatigue was rough. I had to nap a few times a day and it was tough on my family. I'm just glad i'm through with it. I actually started a blog about my experience. It's no walk in the park, but you're not alone. One day at a time!

I had a bad reaction to Oxaliplatin. Luckily, I caught it early—swelling, difficulty breathing, it was scary. Now I'm on a different chemo regimen. If you experience any of those symptoms, get help right away!

Total agree on the neuropathy. Doctors gave me some good advice about using a heating pad or just keeping my hands warm. But the muscle pain was nasty. They told me to keep hydrated, and to take breaks when needed. Good luck, buddy!

I didn't have it so bad. My doctor was big on managing the taste and mouth issues, so I used a mouthwash and kept my mouth clean and hydrated
