Oxymorphone extended-release, commonly known by its brand name Opana ER, was once a powerful prescription pain medication used for severe, persistent pain. The extended-release form was designed to deliver consistent pain relief around the clock. However, due to concerns about its potential for abuse, it was voluntarily removed from the market by the manufacturer in 2017. There are many potent risks associated with its use, including overdose and death. This thread explores the risks, side effects, and experiences associated with Opana ER, from both medical and experiential perspectives.

This is a bit of a shock to hear how bad oxymorphone was for others, I went through a similar ordeal with a severe injury. I have to say, in my experience, the withdrawal symptoms were the worst part. The anxiety, insomnia, and muscle aches were unbearable. I went through a cold turkey withdrawal. It was a nightmare

I thought Opana ER was removed from the market due to its abuse potential. Has anyone tried the generic alternatives? What are the side effects?

I know this is a pretty powerful drug, but is it safe to go through cold turkey withdrawl to get off of the drug. Adding to my previous comment, I have heard of people experiencing withdrawal symptoms and the symptoms were very bad.

I remember when Opana ER was still widely prescribed. The abuse potential was alarming, and it was evident that the extended-release form could be easily manipulated for snorting or injection. The withdrawal of the drug was a necessary step to curb the rising opioid epidemic. If you do end up taking opioids, do not take more than prescribed.

I was on Opana ER for a while and had to switch to a different medication due to severe constipation. My doctor warned me about the risks, including overdose and death

The side effects of Opana ER were really bad. But when I was in severe pain, and opiods were my only real option, I could not do without it.

I've heard horror stories about Opana ER. One of the most alarming side effects is the potential for serotonin syndrome, which can be life-threatening. It's crucial to be aware of the symptoms and seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of them. I've known people that have died from this drug.

Just a question: What are the most common side effects people experienced with Opana ER?

This is a very serious drug, I presume you would not want to mess with it.
