Hey everyone, I recently had my first child and was given Oxytocin 10 units/ml Inj, 1ml to induce labor. My contractions were pretty intense, but it helped speed things along. I'm curious to hear from other moms who have used this drug, especially those who had issues with the side effects. I've heard it can also help with postpartum bleeding, so I'm wondering if anyone has insights on that too. I also want to hear from medical professionals. What are some of the common side effects you see? How do you handle them? Also, how exactly does this medication help with milk release for breastfeeding? Is it something you give to all new moms? Do you have stories of emergency situations where this drug is crucial for helping prevent severe bleeding after childbirth? Any tips for ensuring smooth postpartum care? I'm open to any experiences or advice you have to offer! Thank you!

I had Oxytocin during my labor, too. It was intense, but worth it when my little one finally arrived. My post-partum bleeding was pretty severe, thankfully the Oxytocin helped. It's crazy how something natural can help so much to prevent bleeding

I had a breastfeeding nightmare I'm sure you can relate! I was given oxytocin to help induce labor and it helped but I didn't know it would also help release my milk. I wish my medical team had explained how side effects are so common, so I wasn't so scared during my recovery.

Anyone else experience that weird drooping on one side of the face? I thought I was having a stroke but the doc said it was a side effect. I was so relieved but still scared. Have any of you ladies experienced this?

As a nurse, I've seen oxytocin save the day with heavy post-partum bleeding. After delivery, it helps the uterus contract and stop the bleeding. A lot of doctors use it to prevent postpartum hemorrhage. It's also used to induce labor and augment labor contractions. Most of the time, it’s a lifesaver, but we need to be mindful of the side effects.

I experienced really bad headaches and dizziness. Was more scared of the fever and was worried about sepsis during my recovery. I had to go to the ER twice and my doctors were unsure if it was the Oxytocin or something else. It was scary at the time but thankfully, I recovered. I think it's important to get checked out if you experience anything out of the norm

I think it’s a great drug but the side effects are scary. Any advice on how to get breastfeeding started? I’ve heard it helps with milk release.
