I had a really rough experience with Oxytocin. I ended up with an allergic reaction—my skin started getting super itchy and I broke out in hives. The doctors had to stop the dosage and gave me some Benadryl but I felt unwell for hours after. I've had allergic reactions before but never during labor, it was terrifying.
I’ve had two pregnancies and used Oxytocin both times. The first time, I didn’t have any issues. The second time, I had an upset stomach and had to take some anti-nausea meds. It was a bit rough, but overall, it helped with the labor process.
I Have heard from a few people that Oxytocin can also cause a sudden increase in blood pressure. I’m pregnant for the first time and trying to prepare for everything. Do you guys have any advice for managing that?
I can't believe how many people say they had no side effects. My experience was totally different. I had severe stomach pain and trouble passing urine. It was so hard to deal with on top of the labor pain. What did you guys do to manage the side effects?
