I recently found out that my kids will need to take Midazolam 2mg/ml Syrup before a minor procedure. The doctor said it will help them relax and even forget the procedure, which sounds great. I'm just curious if any other parents have used this and what their experience was like? How did your kids react to it? Were there any side effects? I'm trying to prepare myself for what to expect.

I've read about the potential side effects, and I'm a bit worried about the more serious ones, like allergic reactions or suicidal thoughts. Are these really as rare as the doctor made them out to be?

Also, how long does it usually take for the medication to wear off? I want to make sure my kids are fully alert and back to normal before we leave the medical facility.

Maybe it's better to ask the doctor for some sort of numbing cream or something instead. I don't know, I just don't like the idea of giving my kid something that could make them suicidal.

My daughter took this and she was so out of it, she couldn't even stand up. I had to carry her to the car.

I agree, it's a great medication for keeping kids calm during procedures. Just make sure to follow the doctor's instructions carefully.

We used it for my daughter's procedure last year. She was totally calm and didn't remember a thing. No side effects either, thankfully.

I had to give this medicine to my child a few times, it's a mild drug and it's not harmful. Just make sure to give it to your child one hour before the procedure.

Seriously, how common are the suicidal thoughts? That's terrifying.

I'd be more worried about the memory loss side effect. What if my kid can't remember anything from that day?

I think the benefits outweigh the risks in this case. It's better for the kid to be calm and not remember the procedure than to be terrified.
