I've seen some mixed feelings about the new Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine (2024-25) for children aged 5-11. I want to hear from other parents about their thoughts on this. Some parents are eager to vaccinate, while others are hesitant due to potential side effects. I’d love to hear what’s influencing your decisions—whether it’s based on your child’s health profile, your own research into the vaccine, or something else entirely. Also, I would appreciate any insights into how the vaccine works, particularly how the mRNA technology helps build immunity and what to expect in terms of side effects.

Has anyone actually reported side effects through the VAERS system? Curious if it’s worth the effort or if the government is just collecting data they won’t use.

If we’ve learned anything from previous waves, it’s that kids can get seriously sick, too. Yes, the side effects can be rough, but it’s better than dealing with COVID complications. Plus, schools are reopening, and I don’t want my kid to miss out on that.

I’ve seen some kids having really bad reactions to this vaccine. Make sure you’re prepared for the possibility that your child might not tolerate it well.

I'm just going to wait and see how this plays out. Other countries have already rolled out similar vaccines, and the data seems promising, but I’m not in a rush to vaccinate just yet. Hoping to see more long-term studies before making a move.

I trust the science and the experts. This vaccine has gone through rigorous testing, and the benefits far outweigh the risks. My kids are getting theirs as soon as possible.

I had some concerns about the mRNA technology, but after reading up on it, I feel much better. Essentially, it teaches your body to recognize and fight the virus without actually giving you the virus. It’s impressive how it works! The common side effects like soreness at the injection site and a low fever are manageable. I’d rather deal with a few days of that than risk my kid getting seriously ill from COVID, especially as variants continue to mutate.

I think it’s important to note that the rare side effects, like heart problems, are still being researched. My kid’s doctor recommended waiting a bit longer for more data, so that’s what we’re doing. It’s a tough call, but I want to be sure. Plus, our school has strict COVID protocols which have kept us relatively safe so far.
