I'm considering Zonisade for my child who has been diagnosed with epilepsy. The doctor prescribed Zonisamide liquid suspension as a way to help control the seizures. I've heard that it works by calming overactive nerve signals in the brain, but I'm wondering if other parents have had success with this medication.

I'm also concerned about the possible side effects. The doctor mentioned some urgent side effects that require immediate medical help, such as signs of allergic reaction, acidosis, and high ammonia levels. He also said it can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and fatigue, among other things, but said many people experience no or mild side effects.

Does anyone have experience with this? Has anyone had to deal with these side effects? How did you cope? Did you go through something similar? I'd love to hear any stories or advice.

Tough call but worth it for my lil one. The seizures were incredibly disruptive to life, so sticking it out with the side effects was the better option in my mind. It’s a tough decision.

Has anyone else noticed any changes in their child's vision? My kid has been complaining about blurred vision, and I'm not sure if it's related to the medication or something else.

Biggest side effect we saw was fatigue. My kid was sleepy all the time, but it got better after a while. The trade-off was worth it since the seizures were controlled.

I've been giving Zonisade to my daughter for about 6 months now, and it's been a game-changer. Her seizures have decreased significantly, and she's been able to engage more in her daily activities. As for the side effects, she did experience some dizziness at first, but that subsided after a few weeks. Keep a close eye on any unusual symptoms, and always consult your doctor if you're concerned.

I really worry about the side effects too. My kid was on Zonisade and had to stop due to severe stomach pain and vomiting. It was terrifying. The doctor said it might have been acidosis, and we had to switch to something else. So while it can be effective, it's definitely something to be cautious about.

This drug is a lifesaver! I was starting to lose hope due to lack of effective medication, then I switched to Zonisade. My sister has seen tremendous relief from her seizures and has only experienced minor side effects like fatigue. But please, monitor the side effects carefully—they can be serious.

Zonisade saved my nephew. He was having multiple seizures a day, and now he's down to maybe one a month. It's been a miracle for our family, but I think the side effects are pretty manageable compared to the alternative.
