I've been prescribed Zemplar 5mcg/ml Inj, 2ml for managing high PTH levels due to kidney disease. As someone who is new to this medication, I wanted to share my experience and ask for advice from others with similar health issues. So far, I haven't faced anything severe, but I worry about the more serious potential side effects. My kidney disease has been managed fairly well, but I know it's absolutely vital for me to maintain the correct levels of parathyroid hormone in my body. The instructions for this medication are clear, and my doctor has been helpful in explaining everything, but I'm curious: have any of you experienced side effects that I should be on the lookout for? Or has anyone been advised to watch out for anything specific when on this drug?

I had some really bad constipation when I first started Zemplar. My doctor suggested increasing my fiber intake and staying hydrated. It helped a lot, and now I'm doing much better. If you have any issues like this, do give your doctor a call!

I’ve been on it and keeping a healthy diet helped!

My kidney doctor mentioned that Zemplar can cause some stomach troubles. There was a warning about feeling rather queasy but taking it with food can help.

Avoiding Zemplar like the plague, thanks to my nephew who's a pharmacist. Any medication that can cause seizures and abnormal heartbeat is a no-go for me. But I understand how it helps some people, for sure.

The idea of experiencing a seizure due to Zemplar scares me a lot. This is why I will always stay cautious. The side effects list is long, but I think it's worth it if it helps manage your PTH levels. But I imagine a lot of people are hesitant, I know I would be!

I've been on Zemplar for a while now, and while it's helped manage my PTH levels, I did experience some pretty intense dizziness and headaches at first. It settled down after a few weeks, though. Make sure to stay hydrated and monitor your calcium levels closely.

Feeling lucky so far. Not really. Just noticed some minor headaches which I'm not too worried about. But any sudden side effects and I am going to the ER.

I've been on Zemplar for a year now, and it's been a game-changer for my bone health. I had really bad joint pain before, and it's significantly improved. Just keep an eye on your calcium levels and stay in touch with your doctor.
