Parlodel 5mg, also known as Bromocriptine, is a medication used to treat a variety of conditions, including hyperprolactinemia (too much prolactin) and Parkinson's disease. It works by mimicking dopamine in the brain, which can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. However, like any medication, Parlodel comes with its own set of potential side effects and challenges. From mild issues like headaches to more serious complications, it's important to be informed about what to expect and how to address any problems that arise. Experiencing side effects from Parlodel can make anyone nervous, but it's helpful to remember that everyone's experience is different. Some people may have minimal side effects, while others might experience more significant ones. This thread is dedicated to discussing side effects, dosages, and personal experiences, so that we can all learn from each other and support one another. Knowledge and community can greatly improve how a person deals with medication side effects, and that applies to Parlodel as well.

My doctor mentioned something about sudden urges to do specific things. Has anyone else experienced this? It sounds pretty terrifying to me.

Can anyone share their experiences with Parlodel? I'm about to start taking it and I'm nervous about the side effects.

My partner has been on Parlodel for Parkinson’s. The first month was rough, but it got better. The worst part was the hallucinations. Sometimes he would be seeing people in the kitchen that weren't there. It felt weird and scary. The doctor adjusted his dosage and the hallucinations got better. So don't get discouraged if it doesn't feel right; it's completely possible to deal with this if you stay in contact with your doctor.

I hear ya. It's a tough balance. But I think not getting discouraged is the best advice I can give. My doctor and I have been working on the right dosage for me for about two months now. It’s been a journey, and I’m happy to say I’m taking 5mg now. The hard part is now over, and I only have to deal with a bit of dizziness.

I was actually really scared of that too. I read a lot about it before I started taking Parlodel, but it never happened to me. I would still be cautious and pay attention to your behavior. Don't be afraid to reach out to your doctor if you do experience anything unusual.

I've been on this Parlodel for 3 months now. Initially, I was taking 1.25mg, but my doctor increased it to 5mg. The first 2 weeks were really rough. Bad headaches, nausea, and I could barely get out of bed. At one point, I didn't think I would be able to handle it, but after a few weeks, the side effects eased up and now I only have a bit of dizziness. It's worth sticking it out if you can, but definitely talk to your doctor if it gets unbearable.

I really hate how they say it can cause hair loss. It's so hard not to worry about something like that when you're already dealing with so much.

I have to chime in on this one. My sister took Parlodel for a while, and she had crazy dreams and a bit of a restless leg. She had to switch to a different med because she couldn’t take the side effects. But it only took her a few weeks to figure it out. So, I guess it's different for everyone. But don't forget to talk to your doctor if things get rough.

I've noticed a lot of talk in here about weight changes. I have put on 4 pounds since I started. Anyone else?

I've been taking Parlodel for about 6 months and it's been a weird ride. Some days are better than others, but I think the worst part was the sudden uncontrollable urge to eat anything in sight. I felt like I was binge eating non-stop. But since I've started taking Careful, it's been manageable. I hope someone else takes my advice and reports to their doctor when the day comes.
