Pemazyre has recently been approved for the treatment of bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma). By targeting specific proteins (FGFRs) that help cancer cells grow, this new medication is offering hope to those affected by this aggressive disease. While clinical trials have shown promising results, the potential side effects are serious and must be considered. This thread is for anyone with experience or knowledge about Pemazyre. Please share your insights, concerns, and questions. Together, we can help others understand this new treatment option better. I'm particularly interested in hearing from those who have firsthand experience with Pemazyre or their healthcare providers.

From what I've read, the most common side effects include hair loss, stomach issues, and fatigue. However, the serious side effects, like severe allergic reactions and kidney problems, are what worry me the most. How do doctors monitor these potential complications? And does anyone have insights on how to manage the more common side effects?

I'm new to this, but I've been diagnosed with bile duct cancer and am considering Pemazyre. Does anyone have advice on what to expect from the treatment process itself?

My mom was diagnosed with bile duct cancer last year, and Pemazyre has been a lifesaver. She had a tough time with the side effects at first, but her doctor helped her manage them, and now she's doing much better. It's given her more time, and that's all we can ask for.

I've read that Pemazyre can cause serious eye problems. Has anyone here experienced this, and if so, how was it managed?

I started taking Pemazyre a few months ago, and while it's too early to say how effective it is, I've definitely noticed some side effects. The hair loss was expect but the constant nausea has been tough to deal with. My oncologist suggested some medications to help manage it, but it's still a struggle some days.

Pemazyre sounds promising, but I'm glad I found this thread. It's important to be informed about the potential side effects and to know what to expect. Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone.

I've been on Pemazyre for about six months now, and while the side effects have been challenging, I'm grateful for the extra time it's given me. I've found that staying hydrated and listening to my body has helped manage some of the symptoms. I know that's easier said than done.

Has anyone had issues with their insurance covering Pemazyre? My dad's insurance is giving us a hard time, and we're not sure what to do.

I work in oncology, and I've seen Pemazyre make a real difference in some of our patients. It's not a cure-all, but for those with FGFR alterations, it can significantly slow down the cancer's progression. Monitoring side effects is crucial. Regular blood tests, eye exams, and check-ins with the care team help catch issues early.
