Penciclovir 1% Cream 5gm is an antiviral cream specifically designed to treat cold sores. Those who suffer from herpes labialis around the face and lips know how frustrating and painful these sores can be. Penciclovir cream helps speed up healing and reduces the pain and discomfort. However, like any medication, it comes with potential side effects. Some of these, like allergic reactions, are severe and require immediate medical attention. Others, like irritation at the application site, may be more manageable. This medication offers hope for faster relief from a common and annoying condition. However, it's essential to be aware of the risks and always consult a healthcare provider before use.

Be careful with this stuff. I had an allergic reaction and ended up with a swollen lip and difficulty breathing. Scary stuff. Had to go to the ER. Seek immediate medical help if you experience anything rash like.

I didn't know there were different types of antiviral creams for cold sores. I've just been using whatever I can find at the pharmacy. Any recommendations for something else to try? I can't believe this stuff costs $50 bucks for a 5gm tube. Seems a bit steep to me.

I'm always so scared of allergic reactions. I'm not sure if I'm allergic to anything, but I get stressed out just thinking about it. The first time I used Penciclovir, I put a little on my hand to test it out for a few hours. No issues, so I went for it. Worked like a charm.

I tried Penciclovir a couple of times and got severe irritation at the application site. Had to stop using it. Anyone else experience this? I would love to hear if anyone found a successful way to avoid this.

Did anyone else notice that the more you use it, the less effective it becomes? It's like my body is getting used to it or something. Any tips to avoid this? Also, does anyone know why this happens? I just don't get why it is so expensive.

The irritation at the site of application wasn't too bad for me. I just had to tough it out for a few days and it went away. Not sure if that was just a fluke or not. Next time I have a cold sore I will definitely try it again. And with the number of cold sores I get, there will be a next time.

Penciclovir is a lifesaver but I'm worried that it's just masking the problem rather than treating it. Anyone else concerned about that? Is there a more permanent solution to cold sores? Maybe using a different cream? I have an appointment with my doctor soon so I may discuss this with them.
